Dawnbook

Terms of use

Updated 13 October 2026

These are the simple rules for using Dawnbook.

Using Dawnbook

Dawnbook is for keeping a private diary about your child. You may use it for personal, family use. You are responsible for what you add and for having the right to add it, including photos and recordings of other people.

Your memories belong to you

You own everything you add. We do not claim any rights to it and we do not use it for anything. You can export it, and delete your online account, at any time.

Keep your recovery code safe

Your backup is encrypted so that only you can open it. That means we cannot reset your passphrase or recover your diary if you lose both your passphrase and your recovery code. Keep the code somewhere safe and separate from your phone.

Family and friends

If you invite people to add memories, you decide what is kept. Do not use invitations to collect content from people who do not know why they are sending it. Contributors must only send things they are allowed to share, and nothing unlawful or harmful. You can stop an invitation at any time.

What you must not do

Do not use Dawnbook for anything unlawful, to harass anyone, to store content that exploits or harms children, or to try to break or overload the service.

No guarantees

We work hard to keep your memories safe, but no software is perfect. Dawnbook is provided as it is. Keep your recovery code, make an export from time to time, and do not rely on Dawnbook as your only copy of something irreplaceable. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from lost devices, lost recovery codes or interruptions to the service.

Ending your use

You can stop using Dawnbook at any time and delete your online account in the app. We may suspend accounts that break these terms or put others at risk.

Changes and contact

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app. Write to us at support@dawnbook.app.
